Ingredients:

  • Cupcake mix (any kind you like).
  • Buttercream mix.
  • Milk (for the buttercream).
  • Butter (also for the buttercream).
  • Paper liners.
  • Candy hearts.
  • Heart sprinkles.
  • Red food dye.

Tools:

  • Bowl.
  • Mixer or Kitchen aid.
  • Spatula.
  • Spoons.
  • Cupcake pan.
  • Oven.
  • Piping bag.
  • Two little bowls.

For this Cake mix I need to pre-heat the oven on 200 degrees Celsius. Follow your Cake mix instructions on how to pre-heat your oven. Now that that’s out of the way we’re gonna mix the cake. Mine only needs 150ml of water. Again follow your cake mix instruction, every cake mix is different.

I mixed my cake! Because my mix includes chocolate chips, I am gonna add them right now and put my kitchen aid on a low speed so I don’t mess up the chocolate chips.

So that is done! How adorable is my spatula? I love it! My chocolate chips are well mixed in so now it’s time to put them in the cake pan.

Line your cake pan with your paper liners, and grab two spoon to scoop the batter easily into you paper liners.

There we go! Our oven is heated up right now, so it’s ready to bake! The instructions said they need to bake for 15-20 minutes, so that’s what we are going to do.

After 16 minutes I poked a knife in the middle of a cupcake and it came out clean. They’re ready! now let them cool down completely.

Onto making the buttercream!

I first whipped 100 grams of butter soft and creamy, then I added 125ml of milk, and the mix. I whipped it till it was smooth and had no lumps of butter in it anymore.

Now you wanna divide the buttercream into two parts. Put it in two separate bowls.

Now take your red food coloring and put a little bit in one of the two bowls. Stir it with a spoon. You can add as much color as you like. I went for a light pink.

Now you have two colors of buttercream. Now the tricky part! Grab your piping bag and start with the pink buttercream, try to put the buttercream to one side of the piping bag, It’s okay if it’s not perfect! Now grab the white buttercream and put that on the other side, try not to mix the two colors together, you should be really careful!

Take you piping bag and pipe a big “swirl” onto you cupcakes! See how funny and creative that looks? Now it’s time to decorate, YAY.

Piniteasy valentine cupcakes (13)

Take you candy hearts and sprinkles. I choose to only use white and pink colored hearts to match the colors of the buttercream šŸ™‚

Decorate it the way you like! I placed two hearts on top and after that I sprinkled them with the little hearts.

This is the finished result:
